New patients

Welcome to Acclaim Dental.

New patients of all ages are welcome, including for emergencies. Here's what to expect at your first visit.

Your first visit

  1. Book

Call us or send an enquiry. Tell reception if anything's worrying you, if you're nervous, or if you'd like a particular clinician.

  2. Arrive a few minutes early

There's a short medical history form to complete. Bring your Medicare card, health fund card and medication list.

  3. Comprehensive examination

Teeth, gums, bite, jaw joints and an oral cancer screen, with digital X-rays if due. We show you what we find on screen.

  4. Clean and advice

A scale, clean, polish and fluoride, plus practical advice tailored to you.

  5. Your plan and costs

If treatment is recommended, you get a written plan with item numbers and costs, prioritised so you know what's urgent and what can wait.

Nervous patients

Dental anxiety is common and we take it seriously. Tell us when you book. We'll explain everything before we do it, go at your pace and agree a stop signal. A short first visit with no treatment is always an option.

Fees and health funds

Payment is due on the day. We're a preferred provider for Bupa, MBP (Medibank), CBHS, HCF, RTH (RT Health), TUH, NM Health (Nurses & Midwives Health), and Westfund. Your rebate depends on your fund and level of cover. Eligible children are bulk billed under CDBS. Payment options include Denticare, Fund My Dental and ZIP Pay. See payment options.

Got questions?

First visit questions

What should I bring to my first appointment?

Your Medicare card, your health fund card if you have one, a list of any medications, and any recent X-rays from a previous dentist if you have them. If your child is eligible for CDBS, bring their Medicare card.

How long is a first appointment?

Allow about 45 to 60 minutes for a comprehensive examination and clean. Emergency appointments are shorter and focus on the problem.

Can I transfer my records from another dentist?

Yes. Let us know your previous practice and we'll request your records and X-rays with your permission.

I haven't been to a dentist in years. Is that a problem?

Not at all, and you won't be lectured. We'll assess where things are at and give you a plan, prioritised so the urgent things come first.

Ready to book?

Call the practice and our front desk team will find a time that suits you. Emergency appointments are available every day we're open.
