What causes tooth loss?

Tooth decay and periodontal disease are the most common causes of tooth loss. Tooth decay takes place when most of the tooth's mineral makeup has been dissolved away and a hole (cavity) has formed. Periodontal disease is an infection of the gums caused by the buildup of plaque and caluclus, and its earliest stage is known as gingivitis.

How many times a day should I brush my teeth?

Most dental professionals recommend that you brush your teeth at least twice a day. Brushing after every meal (and flossing at least once a day) is also a good way to maintain dental health.

When should a child have his/her first dental appointment?

A child should have his first dental appointment no later than thier third birthday. Many dentists recommend a child have thier first appointment when thier first tooth erupts. Also feel free to bring your children along for your appointment so they can meet our team and feel comfortable in the dental surroundings.

What causes oral cancer?

Tobacco (cigarettes, pipes, cigars, chewing tobacco, and snuff) is the most common cause of oral cancer. Combining tobacco use with heavy drinking can also foster the development of oral cancer. Bad hygiene, prolonged irritation of the oral cavity, and extended exposure to strong sunlight on the lips are among other causes of the disease. Many dentists believe vitamins A and E can help prevent the acquisition of oral cancer.

What are the warning signs of oral cancer?

Early symptoms of oral cancer include: a sore on the lip, in the mouth, or in the throat that does not heal; a lump on the lip, in the mouth, or in the throat; a red or white patch found anywhere in the mouth; unusual pain or bleeding in the mouth; swelling of the mouth; and any difficulty or discomfort felt in chewing or swallowing.

What is an Implant?

An implant involves placing an artificial root into the jawbone and restoring it with an artificial crown to re-establish the missing tooths natural look and function. This process can taken anywhere from 3 months to 12 months to complete.

What is a crown?

A crown is the strongest and longest lasting restoration we can provide for you tooth/teeth. It prevents your tooth from risk of fracture and looks and feels like a real tooth.

What is a Bridge?

A bridge is used when you have a gap between 2 or more teeth. It is a fixed unit that fills the spaces left by missing teeth and helps you to chew properly.

What is Root Canal Treatment?

Root Canal Treatment is where we save your tooth by removing the nerve tissue & infection within the tooth. We can restore it in a way that will stop it from blowing up and causing you any future pain.

What are Porcelain Veneers?

Porcelain Veneers are ceramic shells that cover the front tooth surface; similar to an acrylic nail on a finger. They a are fantastic makeover for your teeth. They last for years and rejuvenate your smile. Second to tooth whitening, they are our  most popular cosmetic service. 

What is Preventive Care?

It is the removal of tarter, scale & staining from around your teeth. It helps maintain your teeth for life and reduces bad breath by controlling the level of bacterial infection in your gums. Most patients require this service every 6 months.
